Né à New York, il grandit dans Greenwich Village et s'installe à Los Angeles en 1979. Superbe guitariste au jeu fluide, Alex devient rapidement un sideman réputé. Il est tour à tour le guitariste de Coco Montoya, William Clarke ("Blowin' like hell"), Rod Piazza ("Blues in the dark") et Lester Butler. Il collabore aussi régulièrement avec son ami d'enfance Tad Robinson. A l'aube des années 2000, il démarre une carrière solo. Pour ce premier album, il s'entoure de trois chanteurs : Finis Tasby, Lynwood Slim et Tad Robinson. Dans un style West Coast, il délivre un excellent disque ponctué de belles réussites comme "Done got over it", "Let's start again", "I love the woman", "Walkin' and talkin'" ou les deux instrumentaux "Big time" et "Lexington express".

At the dawn of the 2000's, he launched a solo career. For this debut album, he joined forces with three singers : Finis Tasby, Lynwood Slim and Tad Robinson. In a West Coast style, he delivers an excellent album punctuated by great moments like "Done got over it", "Let's start again", "I love the woman", "Walkin' and talkin'" and the two instrumentals "Big time" and "Lexington express".

On apprécie dans ce disque consistant "All that I've got", "Double bubble", "Go now", "Tasty dish", "Cold bear", "Ain't nothing like the real thing" (chanté en duo par Deitra Farr et Tad Robinson), "Jellybread".

This is the second collaboration between Alex Schultz and Raphael Wressnig, with a more Soul sound. Backed by excellent musicians and two vocalists (Deitra Farr and Tad Robinson), they deliver a program well balanced between covers and original compositions.
