Né en Californie, Alvin connait une enfance itinérante à travers les Etats-Unis. S'inscrivant dans la lignée des songsters traditionnels comme Leadbelly, Alvin "Youngblood" Hart est repéré par le label Okeh (appartenant à Sony) et propose donc ce premier album de Folk-Blues. Produit par Michael Nash et Carey Mulligan, il donne d'excellents titres ou reprises comme "Joe Friday", "France blues", "Pony blues", "Things 'bout coming my way", "If blues were money". L'album se montre consistant mais ne sera pas promu par Sony qui se désintéresse d'Alvin. Born in California, Alvin grew up traveling across the United States. In the continuation of traditional songsters like Leadbelly, Alvin "Youngblood" Hart is spotted by the Okeh label (owned by Sony) and therefore delivers this first Folk-Blues album. Produced by Michael Nash and Carey Mulligan, he gives some excellent titles or covers like "Joe Friday", "France blues", "Pony blues", "Things 'bout coming my way", "If blues were money". The album is consistent but will not be promoted by Sony which is losing interest in Alvin. |

Alvin s'est fait connaitre grâce à son premier album. Il attire l'attention du producteur Joe Boyd qui lui propose d'enregistrer pour son propre label Hannibal. Il conserve aussi son tandem de producteurs (Michael Nash & Carey Mulligan). Pour ce nouvel opus, il étend ses influences et délivre un album varié et inspiré. On apprécie, en particulier, sa reprise du "Illinois blues" de Skip James, ses airs folkloriques "Tallacatcha" et "Ouachita run", le sombre "Countrycide", l'instrumental électrique "Ice rose", l'inattendue pièce ska "Just about to go". Alvin became known thanks to his first album. He attracted the attention of producer Joe Boyd who asked him to record for his own Hannibal label. He also keeps his tandem of producers (Michael Nash & Carey Mulligan). For this new opus, he extends his influences and delivers a varied and inspired album. We appreciate, in particular, his cover of Skip James' "Illinois blues", his folk tunes "Tallacatcha" and "Ouachita run", the dark "Countrycide", the electric instrumental "Ice rose", the unexpected ska piece "Just about to go". |

For this album produced by Jim Dickinson and David Less, Alvin returns to the country blues of his beginnings. Here he covers several standards of the genre which he plays remarkably on guitar, banjo, mandolin.
