Buster s'installe à New York en 1956 où il est découvert par le producteur Bobby Robinson. Grâce à Robinson, Buster enregistre une poignée de titres sympathiques pour le label Fire dont "Fanny Mae", son succès le plus connu. Parfois teintés de Rock & Roll ou de Rhythm & Blues, ces morceaux méritent une écoute attentive comme les reprises de Louis Jordan "Is you is or is you ain't my baby" ou d'Elmore James avec "When things go wrong" mais aussi "John Henry", "Don't dog your woman", "Sugar babe". Les musiciens du petit combo électrique qui l'accompagne sont toujours inconnus sauf l'excellent guitariste "Wild" Jimmy Spruill identifié dans la Blues Discography. Dans la réédition Jasmine, le compilateur a ajouté les morceaux d'un certain B.Brown qui est en fait Daniel Brown et non pas Buster Brown. Contrairement à ce qui est parfois avancé, Wayman Glasco n'est pas son vrai nom : il s'agit, en réalité, du nom de son agent.

Buster moved to New York in 1956 where he was discovered by producer Bobby Robinson. Thanks to Robinson, Buster records a handful of nice titles for the Fire label including "Fanny Mae", his best known success. Sometimes tinged with Rock & Roll or Rhythm & Blues, these songs deserve an attentive listening like the covers of Louis Jordan "Is you is or is you ain't my baby" or Elmore James with "When things go wrong" but also "John Henry", "Don't dog your woman", "Sugar babe". The musicians of the little electric combo that accompany him are still unknown except the excellent guitarist "Wild" Jimmy Spruill identified in Blues Discography. In the Jasmine reissue, the compiler has added tracks of a certain B.Brown who is actually Daniel Brown and not Buster Brown. Contrary to what is sometimes advanced, Wayman Glasco is not his real name : he is, in fact, the name of his agent.
