Originaire de Chicago, il connait sa première expérience blues en voyant Blind Arvella Gray jouer dans les rues de la ville. Jim apprend la guitare et joue avec Gaye Adegbalola, John Cephas & Phil Wiggins durant les années 80. Grâce aux producteurs hollandais Gerard Robs et Kees Van Wijngaarden, il put enregistrer ce premier album de blues acoustique sous la bannière Black Magic. Excellent joueur en fingerpicking dans la tradition du Piedmont Blues, il reprend ici les standards des grands noms (Skip James, Robert Johnson, Tampa Red, Big Bill Broonzy) et ajoute quelques compositions personnelles.

Originally from Chicago, he had his first blues experience when he saw Blind Arvella Gray play in the streets of the city. Jim learns guitar and plays with Gaye Adegbalola, John Cephas & Phil Wiggins during the 80's. Thanks to Dutch producers Gerard Robs and Kees Van Wijngaarden, he was able to record this first acoustic blues album under the Black Magic banner. An excellent fingerpicking player in the Piedmont Blues tradition, he covers the standards of the big names (Skip James, Robert Johnson, Tampa Red, Big Bill Broonzy) and add some personal compositions.
