Né en Israel, arrivé à Chicago en 1999, Guy devient rapidement le guitariste d'Aron Burton et surtout de Willie Kent. A la mort de ce dernier en 2006, il se lance dans une carrière en solitaire. Avec ce premier album prometteur, il s'impose comme un guitariste habile et précis évoluant dans un contexte musical entre Blues et Jazz.
Born in Israel, arrived in Chicago in 1999, Guy quickly became the guitarist of Aron Burton and, more importantly, for Willie Kent. Following the latter's death in 2006, he embarked on a solo career. With this promising debut album, he established himself as a skilled and precise guitarist evolving in a musical context somewhere between Blues and Jazz.

Après des albums intéressants mais passés inaperçus, Guy King grave grâce au label Delmark et au producteur Dick Shurman cet excellent disque. Bon chanteur, il est surtout un remarquable guitariste au jeu précis et subtil. Même si la tracklist est trop longue, on apprécie ce Jazz-Blues cuivré avec des titres comme "The same thing that can make you laugh", "It's about the Dollar Bill", "A day in a life with the blues", "See saw", "Hey now", "Bad case of love" ou sa reprise de "There must be a better world somewhere".
After several interesting but largely unnoticed albums, Guy King released this excellent opus, thanks to the Delmark label and producer Dick Shurman. A fine singer, he is above all a remarkable guitarist with precise and subtle playing. Even though the tracklist is too long, we appreciate this brassy Jazz-Blues with titles like "The same thing that can make you laugh", "It's about the Dollar Bill", "A day in a life with the blues", "See saw", "Hey now", "Bad case of love" or his cover of "There must be a better world somewhere".
