Comme beaucoup de bluesmen, Lovie fait son initiation musicale à l'église et dans le restaurant de ses parents. Devenu pianiste dans la région de Meridian (il est un habitué du Star Theatre), il devient le beau-père du jeune Carey Bell au milieu des années 50. Arrivé à Chicago en septembre 1956, il exerce différents métiers comme postier et surtout tapissier. Lovie Lee fut le dernier pianiste de l'orchestre de Muddy Waters entre 1979 et 1983 remplaçant Pinetop Perkins. En parallèle, il apparait sur la légendaire anthologie "Living Chicago Blues" supervisée et produite par Bruce Iglauer. Lovie brille sur les excellents "Nobody knows my trouble", "Sweet little girl" ou "Naptown".
Like many bluesmen, Lovie made his musical initiation at the church and in his parents' restaurant. Having become a pianist in the Meridian region (he is a regular at the Star Theatre), he became the stepfather of the young Carey Bell in the mid-1950's. Arrived in Chicago in september 1956, he worked in various trades such as a postman and above all an upholsterer. Lovie Lee was the last pianist of Muddy Waters' orchestra between 1979 and 1983 replacing Pinetop Perkins. In the meantime, he appears on the legendary anthology "Living Chicago Blues" supervised and produced by Bruce Iglauer. Love shines on the excellent "Nobody knows my trouble", "Sweet little girl" or "Naptown".

Ce rare microsillon regroupe des séances à priori produites par Lovie Lee lui-même. Il y est accompagné notamment par les excellents Carey & Lurrie Bell et Eddie Taylor et délivre une bonne tranche de Chicago Blues avec des titres intéressants comme "She's gone", "Tricky woman", "You", "Old tobacco", "Good candy". Une partie de la tracklist est reprise dans le CD "Good candy" édité par Earwig.
This rare LP brings together sessions probably produced by Lovie Lee himself. He is accompanied in particular by the excellent Carey & Lurrie Bell and Eddie Taylor and delivers a good slice of Chicago Blues with interesting titles like "She's gone", "Tricky woman", "You", "Old tobacco", "Good candy". Part of the tracklist is included in the "Good candy" CD issued by Earwig.
