Après deux albums auto-produits, Selwyn Birchwood signe un contrat avec le label Alligator dirigé par Bruce Iglauer. Sur ce disque, il se montre un guitariste créatif et plein de feeling, un bon chanteur et un compositeur doué. Un programme consistant avec "Addicted", "Don't call no ambulance", "Tell me why", "Falling from the sky", le slow blues "Brown paper bag", "Hoodoo stew". Derrière Selwyn, un groupe remarquable : Regi Oliver (saxophone), Donald "Huff" Wright (basse) et Curtis Nutall (batterie).
After two self-produced albums, Selwyn Birchwood signed a contract with the Alligator label run by Bruce Iglauer. On this disc, he shows himself to be a creative and full of feeling guitarist, a good singer and a gifted composer. Pour ce second album pour Alligator, Selwyn Birchwood donne encore le meilleur de lui-même avec des titres puissants et inspirés comme "Trial by fire", "Even the saved need saving", "Guilty pleasures", "Pick your poison", "Haunted", "Reaping time", "R we krazy", "Corporate drone". Il brille à la guitare et, derrière lui, son groupe se montre parfaitement efficace.
For this second album for Alligator, Selwyn Birchwood still gives the best of himself with powerful and inspired titles like "Trial by fire", "Even the saved need saving", "Guilty pleasures", "Pick your poison", "Haunted", "Reaping time", "R we krazy", "Corporate drone". He shines on guitar and, behind him, his backing band is perfectly effective.

Pour ce troisième album chez Alligator, c'est Tom Hambridge qui produit (Selwyn produisait lui-même sur les deux précédents opus). Le son Blues se mêle parfois à des éléments Rock plus commerciaux. Encore une fois, certaines compositions personnelles méritent l'écoute : "I'd climb mountains", "I got drunk laid and stoned", "Living in a burning house", "Mama knows best" (un duo avec Diunna Greenleaf), "Through a microphone".
For this third album on Alligator, Tom Hambridge is the producer (Selwyn produced himself the two previous opuses). His Blues sound sometimes mixes with more commercial Rock elements. Once again, some personal compositions are worth listening to : "I'd climb mountains", "I got drunk laid and stoned", "Living in a burning house", "Mama knows best" (a duet with Diunna Greenleaf), "Through a microphone".
